Paramedic prescribing: what you need to know

New legislation has come into force to allow advanced paramedics to prescribe medicines to patients. As of 1 April 2018, paramedics were able to undertake training in independent and supplementary prescribing.

One week until the HCPC updated standards of proficiency come into effect

There's just one week until 1 September 2023, when the updated HCPC standards of proficiency come into effect. We encourage all registrants to ensure they understand the updates and are ready to integrate them as far as they relate to their scope of practice.

Performance review requirements 2025-26 - what to expect

We emailed education providers due their performance review in 2025-26 in late June. Providers who will undergo the process this year (2025-26) will have been given specific requirements and a key contact to work with at the HCPC.
